Executive


The Association Executive (AE) serves as CEO of the Birmingham Association of REALTORS® and its subsidiaries: The Greater Alabama MLS, The Birmingham Commercial REALTORS® Council and Silent Angels of Alabama. Oversees day-to-day operations. Hires, evaluates and leads staff. Serves as the association's visionary leader guided by the Board of Directors, bylaws, policies, procedures and the association's mission and strategic plan. Ensures a comprehensive leadership development plan is in place. Builds and maintains strategic partnerships. Provides adequate member resources and services. Directs political actions as well as key initiatives that promote a healthy organizational culture with high member engagement. Positions the association as the local voice for real estate.

Commercial


The commercial arm of the Birmingham Association of REALTORS® is the Birmingham Commercial REALTORS® Council. The group provides resources to Commercial REALTOR® and Institute Affiliate members and their affiliated organizations. This subsidiary organization, founded in 2005, supports members’ businesses through advocacy efforts and other opportunities that advance the commercial real estate industry. Commercial practitioners also benefit from networking, an awards program, development opportunities, resource documents and professional tools that help generate business leads. Meet the BCRC board.
Meet the Team 

Communication


Manages social media, website and print media content development. Provides in-house graphic design and marketing services. Promotes association programs, events, products and services. Coordinates special partnership efforts. Maintains internal and external communication channels through which association, advocacy, consumer engagement, professional development, state, national and industry news and information are shared. Responsible for public and media relations. Serves as staff liaison to the Public Relations Committee.

Education


Develops and implements a comprehensive education program. Provides professional development through continuing education. Records CE hours earned locally. Ensures adequate opportunities for members to successfully meet continuing education requirements. Recruits and retains instructors and informs them about the course approval process. Provides classroom  and online courses; courses to earn designations and certificationsCode of Ethics and Professional Standards training; new agent orientation courses; non-CE educational options and more. Shares information about the University of Alabama online degree member benefit partnership. Promotes education available through AAR and NAR, which has a real estate library and connects interested members to Masters of Real Estate degree options.

Finance


The association's comptroller executes the day-to-day accounting and other fiscal duties and functions to ensure good fiscal stewardship. Coordinates with the association's CPA, auditing and other firms to support association operations, as directed by the CEO and Board of Directors. Acts as a liaison to certain service providers, vendors, consultants and contractors. Manages certain duties related to technology, telecommunications, equipment and facilities oversight.

Government Affairs


Stays abreast of issues that impact homeownership, the REALTOR® profession and property interests. Provides access to AAR and NAR calls for action. Promotes the benefits and value of participating in the REALTOR® Party (RPAC) and political advocacy. Engages civic leaders and public officials. Ensures the state's largest local REALTOR® association is a major voice for real estate. Manages RPAC fundraising activities. Coordinates participation in such advocacy efforts as REALTOR® Day at the state Capitol. Monitors progress toward Vote, Act & Invest goals.  Staff liaison to the Government Affairs and Central Alabama Global Alliance committees and Silent Angels of Alabama charity.

Greater Alabama MLS


Greater Alabama MLS maintains an accurate, robust digital database of real estate information, including listings of residential properties. The subsidiary corporation of the Birmingham Association of REALTORS® was founded in 1958. GreaterAlabamaMLS.com is the multiple listing service's web portal. REALTORS®, agents, brokers, appraisers and other subscribers use it for members-only access to rich MLS data. Home and property buyers and sellers use it to search Greater Alabama real estate listings. Greater Alabama MLS also offers a variety of pro functions and business tools for members, including savable searches, lead generation, IDX feeds, an agent finder, a mobile app and cross-platform capabilities for PCs, tablets and smart phones. Membership


Implements the association's new member recruitment, orientation, on-boarding and retention program. Develops and grows the Member Benefits Partner Program. Actively involved in member outreach to increase engagement. Fosters the involvement of culturally and ethnically diverse members and supportive, allied business partners. Applies knowledge of membership needs, trends and issues to the development of strategic initiatives and to address members' questions and concerns. Communicates with members to determine necessary strategic initiatives and to promote association programs, products and services to meet specific member needs. Encourages member involvement through committee participation, activities, networking and other social opportunities.

Professional Standards


Ensures professional standards training for board leadership. Trains and acts as staff liaison to the standing Professional Standards and Grievance committees. Administrates duties and functions related to processing ethics complaints and requests for arbitration and mediation as well as other select requests related to REALTOR® disputes. Stays up to date on and shares information about the procedural process necessary to enforce the Code of Ethics. Implements the association's Ombudsmanship Program.
