March 22 Reception Welcomes Bessemer Board into Birmingham REALTORS® Family

 Members of the former Bessemer Board of REALTORS are guests of honor for the Thursday, March 22 Welcome Reception, 4-6 p.m. at the Frank House Golf Course Club House, 801 Golf Course Road, Bessemer, AL 35022. The event is open to all members of the Birmingham Association of REALTORS who would like to attend. Enjoy food, beverages and fellowship. There is no cost to attend. 


Birmingham REALTORS® Announces Merger, Welcomes Bessemer Board of REALTORS® Members

BIRMINGHAM – Feb. 10, 2018 –The Birmingham Association of REALTORS® (BAR) Board of Directors announces the association’s merger with the 60-plus member Bessemer Board of REALTORS®.

Nearly 4,000 members comprise the Birmingham association, whose jurisdiction includes Jefferson and Shelby counties. The merged entity retains the Birmingham Association of REALTORS® name. The final merger documents were signed Jan. 31, 2018. The National Association of REALTORS® officially recognized the merger shortly after it was ratified by the BAR membership late last year.

“Since 1965, the Bessemer Board of REALTORS® and Birmingham Association of REALTORS® have enjoyed a complimentarysisterhood as we served our members, communities, customers and clients,” said 2017 Bessemer President Rosalyn H. Johnson, broker of Realty One LLC in Fairfield.

“Today,” Johnson continued, “we join our members, our hearts and our goals to become one united REALTOR® family.”

Kim Mangham-Barelare, BAR’s 2018 President, expressed her excitement about the merger and invited the former Bessemer members to join BAR committees, get involved in association activities and to fully engage in the association.

“This is great news for all of us as we watch our association grow and prosper,” Mangham-Barelare of LAH Real Estate said. “Many of the Bessemer Board members have been involved with us in Birmingham for a number of years. We’re very happy to simply make it official.”

Already, the former Bessemer Board’s Texie Warnick and Donna Thigpen represent BAR as state directors. In addition, Johnson and Pam Segars-Morris were appointed to the 2018 BAR Board of Directors.

Mangham-Barelare asks members to “stay tuned. We’re planning a reception in the Bessemer area to celebrate the union of our two associations.”
