We are about Compassion and Caring

This idea originated from the 2012 BAR Leadership Class. The purpose of Silent Angels as a 501c3 nonprofit is to found a group dedicated to assisting needy individuals (BAR Members, BAR Staff) who have encountered severe financial hardship for reasons beyond their control to obtain basic necessities through the provision of loans or grants in the form of funds, goods, and/or services. Any BAR member, BAR staff member, in good standing, who can demonstrate that he or she has encountered severe circumstances due to a prolonged illness, death, catastrophic event or accident, or similar occurrence. Together, we can provide caring and compassion to our members in need.

BAR Benevolent Fund – Silent Angels of Alabama (the Nonprofit Corporation): BAR Board of Directors voted to approve motion for its formation on March 4, 2015. All paperwork was submitted to IRS for 501 c3 status. Founding Silent Angels of Alabama Board Members were: The late James Harwell, Janet Hamm and Faith Harper.

 

Purpose: Primarily dedicated to assisting needy individuals (BAR Members, BAR Staff) who have encountered severe financial hardship for reasons beyond their control to obtain basic necessities through the provision of loans or grants in the form of funds, goods, and/or services.

Eligibility: Any BAR member, BAR staff member, in good standing, who can demonstrate that he or she has encountered severe circumstances due to a prolonged illness, death, catastrophic event or accident, or similar occurrence.

Confidential Application for Benevolent Fund Award

Silent Angels of Alabama was established to assist needy individuals who have encountered severe financial hardship to obtain basic necessities due to a prolonged illness, catastrophic event, accident or similar occurrence.

Eligibility: Individuals eligible include a Birmingham Association of Realtors® member in good standing for 12 consecutive months immediately preceding the application (“Qualified Association Member”); an employee of a Qualified Association Member and works a minimum of 20 hours per week; a family member of a Qualified Association Member (spouse, domestic partner, or child under the age of 21); an employee of the Birmingham Association of Realtors® working at least on average 20 hours a week preceding the application.
