Q. What’s my BAR username/password?
Q. How do I log in to pay my BAR dues/MLS fees?
A. Your dues, fees, and any outstanding payments can be made through your Member Portal.
Q. Why can’t you just write down my credit card number instead of sending me to the portal?
A. We always want to ensure protection for our members. Taking your payment through the portal guarantees a secure transaction that can be tracked.
Q. How do I find CE class information?
A. Education information is posted on the BAR website under the “Learn” tab or click HERE for a list of BAR and GAMLS courses. A link to the classes is also in MLS on the Home Page of Paragon.
Q. How do I register for a class?
A. To register for a class, log into your Member Portal and click on the “Events” tab, or click HERE for a list of BAR and GAMLS courses. When you find a class you wish to take, click Details and follow the prompts to register.
Q. Can late fees be waived?
A. No. Late fees for any type of dues or member fees will not be waived. BAR and GAMLS provide ample notice and numerous email reminders to help you avoid late fees. Please be sure we have current contact information in your Member Portal. If you are in MLS Subscriber, this contact information will also update in the MLS.
Q. How do I appeal an MLS or BAR late fee?
A. Late Fees may be appealed by coming before the board (either BAR or MLS) and presenting your case as to why you were unable to pay on time. The board will then discuss your circumstance and inform you of their decision via email.
Q. Can BAR Dues or MLS Fees be refunded?
A. No, but please contact Billing@BirminghamRealtors.com if you have a special circumstance.
Q. Can I be refunded my RPAC contribution?
A. No. Only the Alabama Association of Realtors can refund RPAC. You may contact AAR to see if they can give you a refund. Please note, RPAC is nonrefundable after 30 days of payment.
Q. What does it cost to join BAR and GAMLS?
A. BAR annual member dues renew January 1st and are pro-rated monthly with rates for Brokers, Agents, Affiliates, Appraisers, and Admins. GAMLS annual fees renew July 1st and are pro-rated monthly with rates for Realtors and non-Realtors. Please call (205) 871-1911 for current pro-rated amounts.

Q. What’s the difference between the Member Portal and the Members Only section?
A. The member portal is your one stop shop to pay dues and fees, print receipts, register for classes and events, and update your contact information. The members only section provides secure access to proprietary news and resources for BAR members.
Q. How many CE credits do I need as an agent?
A. Agents must get 15 hours of CE Credit every two years to keep their license and Association Membership in good standing.
Q. What do I need to do if I am transferring my license to a new office?
A. Once you have transferred your license with AREC (Alabama Real Estate Commission), please complete an Agent Change Form and email it to Membership@BirminghamRealtors.com. Your new broker will need to sign the form. If you are opening your own company and you have filed the needed documentation with AREC, please complete a New Office/Qualifying Broker form and email it to Membership@BirminghamRealtors.com.
Q. Where can I find a list of events/classes?
A. In the upper right corner, please click on ‘Calendar’ to see what is going on. This is where all events, classes, etc. will be listed. To see more information about an event, click on it.
